The game did not begin smoothly for Knapp. Another contestant won the first three puzzles, while Knapp dealt with early setbacks, including a “Lose a Turn” and a failed mystery wedge gamble. But he eventually found his rhythm and solved the “Before & After” puzzle “Words of Wisdom Tooth,” earning $2,750 and giving himself a chance to build momentum. (Daily Herald)
His comeback continued in the Prize Puzzle round, where he solved “Luxurious Getaway” and won a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic worth $11,500. After another successful solve later in the game, he entered the Bonus Round with $20,400 and selected the category “What Are You Doing?” (Daily Herald)

In the Bonus Round, Knapp was given the standard letters R, S, T, L, N, and E before choosing G, C, M, and A as his additional letters. Those choices revealed enough of the puzzle for him to work out the answer: “Giving an autograph.” Within seconds, he solved it correctly and won a Nissan Z Sport valued at $45,400, bringing his final total to $65,800. The celebration on stage moved forward as host Ryan Seacrest confirmed the win, while Vanna White stood beside the puzzle board. Knapp’s wife and friend joined the moment, and the red Nissan Z became the highlight of the episode. For Knapp, the win was especially memorable because he had watched and played Wheel of Fortune for much of his life, first with his family growing up and later with his wife and children. After the broadcast, however, the moment sparked debate online. Some viewers replayed the Bonus Round and questioned whether Knapp’s pronunciation of the answer sounded clear enough, while others defended the ruling and said he had plainly solved the puzzle. Despite the social media discussion, the result stood as aired, and Knapp remained the official winner of the car, the Punta Cana vacation, and the rest of his prize total.
For many fans, the episode became memorable not only because of the prize package, but because of the tension surrounding the final answer. Knapp’s victory combined a dramatic comeback, a recognizable Bonus Round phrase, a sports car prize, and a post-show debate that kept the episode circulating after it aired. In the end, his Wheel of Fortune appearance delivered exactly what game-show viewers love: suspense, surprise, celebration, and a moment people kept talking about long after the credits rolled.
